Treating Trauma Compassionately

Hello there! My name is Dr Lynda Foulder-Hughes. I am a Psychotherapist,Psychotherapeutic Occupational Therapist and author.
I have over 35 years practice experience.
I am a highly empathetic, experienced, and educated professional, who genuinely cares.

Over my extensive career I have successful practice experience with adults, young people and children in hospitals, clinics, social care, voluntary organisations, education settings ,television, and the music industry. I have a number of past and present high-profile media and music industry professionals, and part of my current role is as the lead consultant psychotherapist at East x West Records.

I see people either face to face at my tranquil practice in Kingsbury Episcopi in South Somerset, or online via Zoom.

Each person I work with is unique, and so is their therapy! Therefore, there is no such thing as a "one size fits all" approach.

I am trained in a wide range of different psychological modalities, several of which are also core approaches recommended by NICE (National Institute for Health and Care Excellence): person-centred/ humanistic counselling, cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT), compassion focused therapy (CFT), eye movement desensitisation and reprocessing (EMDR), flash technique (FT), Rewind trauma therapy, solution focused therapy (SFT), motivational i(MI), meridian , pychotherapy, mindfulness, meditation, shadow work, inner child work and transpersonal counselling.
I am HCPC registered as an Occupational Therapist , an accredited member of the UKAHPP, and a Fellow accredited with the International Society of Psychotherapists and Counsellors (ISPC) which is the highest level of membership. I am fully insured to practice and I receive regular monthly supervision from a fellow experienced supervisor, who is also educated to PhD level.
I have won awards for my work. In 2015 I was named as one of Newsweek Magazine's "21st Century Professionals" across two editions!
In addition to my therapy work, I am a published author. My seminal work on working with adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse (which was published in 1998), continues to be an influential piece of research, which has helped many people. My holistic self-help book "REMIND- The Prescription for Happiness, Success and Fulfilment in Life" was published in 2023.
I was involved in developing the hugely successful (twice BAFTA nominated) global children`s television series, Tree Fu Tom, at the BBC. The show was screened in over 120 countries around the World (my name is credited on every episode).
I have many years of experience as a clinical supervisor. I offer supervision to qualified occupational therapists, counsellors and psychotherapists. I also offer coaching and mentoring to qualified Occupational Therapists wishing to specialise in psychotherapy.

I am currently the Psychotherapy Lead within Mental Health Communities at the Royal College of Occupational Therapists.

I offer training courses on a range of mental wellbeing topics and therapies.
